With a different winner for each race, the 2010 F1 championship has appeared to be erratic this season, but in the face of a series of mechanical faults in the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel, the young German has now led well over 50 percent of the laps turned this season of Formula 1.

Vettel has driven remarkably well in each of the three races this season and the Red Bull is generally measured the fastest car in the field. The persuasive triumph in the Malaysian Grand Prix has demonstrated that were it not for his desperately unlucky car problems, Sebastian Vettel could be several points clear at the top of the championship standings.

As impressive as Vettel's run was at Malaysia, Lewis Hamilton's performance was possibly as superior or a close second. After starting 20th on the grid following McLaren's disastrous qualifying effort, Hamilton sliced through the field on the opening laps, placing himself in 10th within five laps.

Teammate Jenson Button and the Ferrari duo also started the race past Hamilton, but were nowhere near as fast in relation to him in the opening laps. The deed is even more notable when you consider that Hamilton was running on hard tires, not the softer options like many others.

Michael Schumacher’s return has gotten off to a rocky start, but some expected him to be competing for race wins this early in the season.

The F1 2010 China Grand Prix is coming up this weekend and, thanks to its long straights at the start line and after turn 13, there is a very real prospect of more overtaking than any other race so far this season of F1 Championship.
